UNU-CS Researcher Participates in Citizen Participation Events
On 20-21st September, Hannah Thinyane from the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS) participated in a workshop on Advancing Citizen-based Monitoring, organized by Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation in Johannesburg, South Africa. This workshop is part of South Africa’s 3rd Country Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership.
While in South Africa, Hannah also took part in a number of other citizen participation meetings for the Making All Voices Count – funded project MobiSAM. MobiSAM is undertaking a one year pilot investigation into the use of cell phones to increase citizen participation in local government.
