UNU-CS at an International Conference on Gender, Migration and Economies
On Friday, 09 June 2017, Juhee Kang and Jenny Ju – UNU-CS researchers working on the Migrant Technology research project – attended the International Conference on Gender, Migration and Economies co-organized by the Gender Studies Programme of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Joint Research Centre for Positive Social Science of the National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan). In particular, the discussions on North Korean Women settlers in South Korea and migrant workers in Mainland China have provided insightful ideas for UNU-CS’s ongoing research.
At the conference, Juhee and Jenny were actively engaged in scholarly discussions as well as partnership building with leading academics in the Asia-Pacific region. As an outcome of the partnership building discussion, Professor Wen-Hui Anna Tang from the Center for Gender Education of National Sun Yat-Sen University visited the United Nations University Institute on Computing and Society (UNU-CS) to explore possible collaboration opportunities in relation to ICTs and marriage for migrants in selected Asia-Pacific countries.
