EQUALS: the Global Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital Age was announced today at the WEF meeting in Davos by the Secretary General of the ITU and Executive Director of UN Women. EQUALS is a global framework of action to ensure that women and girls have access to digital devices and services; encourage girls to take up studies in computing fields; and promote leadership and entrepreneurship opportunities for women across the ICT sector.
Cross-cutting the EQUALS Partnership is its Research Group led by the United Nations University Institute in Macau as part of our Gender Tech Lab. The Research Group will bring together leading scholars and activists for the purpose of examining and inventing data- and evidence-driven solutions promoting gender equality in the digital age. The Research Group will work to aggregate and standardize datasets and define a core set of global indicators. Inaugural members of the Research Group include colleagues from the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University.
