On Friday, 21 July 2017, six researchers from the United Nations University Institute in Macau visited Caritas Macau’s Lar Sao Luis Gonzaga center for relationship building and for engagement in the activities of the center. The visit consisted of a tour of the center, meeting and engaging with the residents, as well as participating in organized group activities. One of the popular activities that got all the researchers engaged, was creating beaded artwork, with superb supervision and coaching from the center residents.
UNU Institute in Macau partners and collaborates with Caritas Macau on research that explores the use of technology towards empowering the individuals that Caritas works with, as well as towards supporting the operations of Caritas. Beyond the pursuit of research on areas of mutual interests, the engagement with Caritas is towards a better embedding of the institution (UNU Institute in Macau) in Macau, to be a more integrated part of the community, and to support the efforts towards addressing the local challenges.
