Visiting Research Assistant (July 2017 – October 2017)

Yuchao was a Visiting Research Assistant at UNU Institute in Macau working on the EQUALS Project in the Gender Tech Lab. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Journalism & Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she studies the impact of digital media on urban migrant population. Her work focuses on mobile platforms, gender and class, urban development and health communication, primarily drawing on methods from ethnography.

Here at UNU Institute in Macau, she was compiling and analyzing grey literatures about women and ICT in general. She was also responsible for formulating a database that includes gender/ICT-related datasets.
